Results: 41.9% of couples feel that having a good website is very important

Based on the results of our survey, we've found that 41.9% couples feel that a wedding vendor's website is a very important factor in their decision making process. Also, 27.4% feel that a good website is extremely important. What is it that defines a good website? We'll answer that in this article as well.

The Importance of a Wedding Vendor's Website to a Couple's Decision Making Process Chart

Now, what makes a website a good website?

What do couples look for when they browse your website? We have the top 10 answers based on our survey results.

Based on this data, you can see the top 10 details that couples look at when they browse your website, number 1 being the Services you offer. We also got a couple of comments that if you have packages, those are also nice-to-haves on your website along with Pricing information (which ranks number 2 on our list).

The last 3 items are also important factors that determine a good website:

  • Social Media Presence - per our last blog, it is vital that you show your social media presence on your website (specifically Instagram), since couples today are more visual and they like seeing photos and videos of how you your thing.
  • Mobile View - according to data from MobiLoud, in the US, 44.26% of internet traffic comes from mobile phones. This is why it is important that your website is responsive and can adapt to the different screen sizes of smartphones today.
  • User Friendliness - according to data from Forbes Advisor, 88% of users won't return to your website after a bad experience. Bad experience comes in different forms like slow loading times, confusing layouts, outdated design, incomplete information, bad color combination, and more.

So, does your website have all these details? If not, maybe it's time to do an update.

Is your website optimized for Google Search?

Another thing that makes a good website is SEO. SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Your website may check all the boxes above and it can be the best looking website in the industry but without SEO, it is not seen by your target market.

We asked couples up to how many websites they visit when they search for keywords they need on Google; 43.5% of our respondents only click on the top 5 websites.

Google Search Data

This means that even if you have the best website in the industry, if you're not in the top 5, then you're website will get very minimal traffic, which means less customers.

Niel Patel just released an article yesterday on the changes in SEO Trends for 2024. We try to stay updated with the latest trends in marketing and most importantly, SEO, so that we can use this to leverage our services to our target market. If you need help understanding this, let's talk.

Good news!

If your website is good, checks all the boxes and is being seen by couples who are planning their wedding, our data shows that 58.1% of them will browse your website for more than 5 minutes; that's more than 5 times of the average spend time on websites!

How to Take Advantage

What does this mean for your brand and how can you take advantage of these results? It's easier said than done, right; here are some tips to get you started:

  1. Update your website regularly
Make sure that the information on your website is updated regularly and if it doesn't include the top 10 things couples look for, it's time to add those in.
  2. Add your social media pages
Couples today are visual and need more supporting proof of what you can do as a vendor - this is what social media is for.
  3. Optimize your website for mobile phones
Make sure that your website works well and is viewable on the top smartphones being used in your area. You can find that data here.
  4. Strategize on good user experience
A lot of factors can cause a website to have bad user experience but the good news is there's also a lot you can do to have good user experience. You can put yourself in the shoes of your customers and imagine how they would feel when browsing your website. From there, you can strategize on what needs to be changed.
  5. Leverage SEO to be seen
Not a lot of businesses are familiar with SEO and when you read about it, it seems pretty simple; don't be fooled. SEO may be simple but it's very long process to be able to get to the top. This involves technical SEO, local SEO, on-page/off-page SEO and more terms that we will be discussing in our next blog post. So stay tuned for that one!

These are just a couple of tips to help you leverage our survey results for your brand. If you need help doing a deeper dive on Website Design and SEO, let's talk and make a plan! You can also check out our Web Design and SEO Services for any help that we can provide.
